Dental Implants are not a new suite of treatment technique in and of themselves, but they have become increasingly popular in the past ten years or so. The types of dental implants available vary in how the procedure is done and what technique is used.
The most popular dental implant technique is known as All-On-4®, a treatment concept that is based on replacing a patient’s arch of teeth with just 4 implants. It is, in todays dental professional field, the most cost-effective treatment technique for dental implants, as well as being simpler than other techniques as it eliminates the need for a dental bone graft. With over 35 million people in the U.S. alone missing all their teeth in either the upper or lower jaw, and in some cases, both, more people are turning to All-On-4® dental implants for dental rehabilitation.
We offer All-On-4® Costa Rica dental implants from our carefully selected dental professionals at a considerable fraction of what this treatment would cost you in your home country. Our dental professionals have all graduated from the most prestigious dental schools in the United States, and their skill and experience guarantee the same degree of quality treatment you would get in your home country, but much more affordably.
There are various types of dental implant treatment techniques. The All-On-4® treatment option is perhaps the best when considering cost-efficiency, duration of the procedure, aftercare, and overall quality of life for the patient. There are variations of the All-On-4 dental implant concept, such as All-On-5®, All-On-6®, and All-On-8®, based on the same core concepts, but in broad terms, the All-On-4 technique is the more desirable one as it requires less implants to restore a person’s full arch teeth.
The treatment itself consists of using 4 titanium screws and fitting them onto your jawbone, using minor surgery to set them in place to replace the root part of your teeth. Dental crowns are then placed onto the implants, effectively giving you a highly realistic-looking prosthetic tooth with all the functionality of a real one. With just 4 titanium implants, one set in each jawbone as needed, you can fully restore your smile.
All-On-4® dental implants address one problem: total teeth loss. Simply put, if your dental health has gotten to the point where you have lost all the teeth in one or both jaws, or are coming imminently close to doing so, perhaps All-On-4® dental implants may be the best option for you.
All-On-4® dental implants have advantages over other treatments or solutions to total teeth loss. They require far less implants be inserted than any other, similar techniques. Dental implant techniques used to require one implant per tooth, meaning that each dental prosthetic piece would have to be screwed to an individual implant. All-On-4® minimizes this exponentially.
Additionally, it far outweighs the seemingly cheap cost of getting classic dentures with the simple convenience and improvements in quality of life that come with not having to deal with the many downsides of dentures, which require a surprising amount of upkeep and hassle.
Titanium implants have the unique advantage of being able to fuse to living bone, so the implants will basically become a part of your jaw and function as such, providing you with the best possible foundation for your long-lasting, functional, highly realistic prosthetic teeth. Another benefit of the All-On-4® dental implant technique is that it prevents any future bone loss.
All-On-4® dental implants provide relatively quick full-arch restoration with only 4 implants – 2 straight anterior implants and 2 implants tilted at a 45-degree angle in the posterior –, immediate function thanks to a fixed provisional bridge for patients who meet the criteria for immediate loading of implants, a graftless procedure (it uses viable bone tissue instead), and the ability to have a new smile on the same day.
All-On-4® dental implants will not only grant you the ability to smile and have functional use of your teeth again, but it will improve your self-esteem, speech, sense and aesthetics like no other technique can.
In the U.S., All-On-4® dental implants can start at the low end around $15000. Considering where you live, if you are having one arch done or both, and the extent of work required to both prepare your mouth and do the procedure, you could be looking at a price tag of up to $35000.
With our highly experienced dental care professionals, you don’t have to consider such extreme costs just to have the ability to display a full, radiant smile again. We offer affordable custom plans that are considerably better than anything you could find in your home country, be it the U.S., Canada, or Europe.
While All-On-4® dental implants treatment, and similar techniques like All-On-5®, All-On-6®, and All-On-8®, are great ways to fully restore and rehabilitate your smile, there are things to keep in mind before opting for any dental implants.
Every case is unique, just like every patient is unique. As such, dental professionals must first evaluate and thoroughly assess a patient’s eligibility for procedures such as All-On-4®. CT scans and X-rays, along with a full review of a patient’s dental health and medical histories will be necessary to determine if All-On-4® dental implants are right for them.
Although All-On-4® treatment can correct speech issues cause by failing dentition and complete loss of teeth, there is also a possibility that some speech problems might arise soon after treatment. The surgery required to insert the titanium implants requires the removal of tissue, both soft and bone, and the implants themselves along with the naturally-occurring inflammation post-procedure can affect speech sounds like “T”, “D”, and “N”. In some cases, it may even impact the diction of “S”, resulting in slight slurring.
This is normally just a temporary byproduct, and simple use and practice of speech can retrain the tongue back to normal. If speech is a major concern for you, whether due to possible social anxiety issues or due to professional concerns, perhaps partial implants, rather than All-On-4®, might be a better option for you. Although, bear in mind, that this may require further implants down the line if tooth decay continues to afflict you.
As the procedure replaces both bone and soft tissue, it can be a little jarring at first for patients when they no longer feel the natural transition of their natural soft tissue inside their mouths to their teeth. As the bridge that is used has some artificial soft tissue, it may take some time getting used it.
As prosthetic teeth have neither nerve ending within them, and they are not connected to the mouth’s tissue in the same way natural teeth are, they can feel a little strange and other-like. Sensation on them will not be quite the same as it takes far more biting force to generate any sense of feeling, and this can result in patients generating excessive force when biting if they aren’t careful.
As with any surgical procedure, minor though it may be, certain care is required. Avoiding hard kinds of food for a few days may be necessary if you experience any discomfort. And regular dental hygiene is paramount to ensuring a healthy recovery.
